Mustang performance parts now in Aus Ford dealerships
Offering handling, exhaust system and visual upgrades, the parts are factory-approved, fully-warranted and can also be fitted to new, pre-delivered Mustangs at the dealership - a three-year, 100,000km Ford Express Warranty is offered if the parts are ordered with the purchase of a new Mustang and fitted at an authorised Ford dealership.
"This is the first time in Mustang's five-decade history that an Australian consumer can take delivery of this iconic performance car with a full suite of upgrades straight off the showroom floor," says Ford Australia CEO, Graeme Whickman.
Ford says the accessories have undergone extensive local testing and engineering assessments for compatibility with both our Mustang specification and local ADRs. That includes testing at Ford's You Yangs facility near Geelong.
The range includes a mandrel-bent stainless steel 2.5-inch exhaust system (integrated to the factory exhaust from the catalytic-converter back) that unleashes a deeper note from the 5.0-litre V8. To suit, 4.0-inch tips finished in classic chrome or black are also available.
A handling upgrade - the FR3-M9 Track Handling Pack - includes lower coil-springs, assembled front struts, upper strut mounts, rear shocks, sway bars, rear toe links and toe-to-knuckle bearings. Developed by Ford Performance the pack is described as being partway between a production car and a race car. While suitable for regular road driving, it's aimed to enhance handling performance at track days, too.
A less aggressive upgrade is a set of street lowering springs, which reduce the Mustang's standard ride-height by one inch (2.5cm).
Finally, a short-throw shift-kit for Mustangs with the six-speed manual transmission is also available. Topped with a Ford Performance gear knob, the kit reduces throw distance by a claimed 19 per cent for swifter gear changes.
