New HQ for Donington Auctions
Donington Auctions has relocated to new premises in Dingley, near Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne’s south-east. Along with the capacity to host larger auctions with more consignments, the facility will also serve as a meeting place for collectors and enthusiasts of automobilia and garagenalia, as well as a venue for car and motorcycle club events.
The much larger - 1600 sqm – facility in Dingley Village (approx. 30km from the CBD), will be the hub for all future Victorian auctions, as well as the headquarters for Donington Auctions nationally.
In addition to the Dingley facility, Donington has established premises at Annangrove, in Sydney’s north-west, located adjacent to the former Amaroo Park racing circuit.
“Our new facility gives us the capacity for much larger and more regular auctions, and provides a well-located meeting place for enthusiasts and collectors to get together,” said Donington Auctions’ Cameron Sabine.
“We are a proper ‘bricks and mortar’ operation, not just online, so enthusiasts can inspect the cars, motorcycles and collectibles up for auction, talk to us about them, and bid with confidence and clarity.
“Additionally, we now have the room for things like ‘cars and coffee’ events and club activities. We plan to make our new headquarters a real destination for classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts.”
A specialist in the sale of vintage, veteran, classic and collectable cars, motorcycles and trucks, Donington also deals with classic and vintage tractors. Additionally, Donington conducts auctions of automotive memorabilia, garagenalia, petroliana, scale models and automotive-related ephemera, with thousands of items sold annually.
Of the latter, Donington has achieved good results for collectable number plates, recently selling the Victorian heritage plate ‘927’ for $320,000. The Victorian plate ‘6-666’ sold for $425,000 as part of the David Jones collection sale, while earlier this year, Donington auctioned ‘888-888’ for $230,000.
