Nissan unveil 'Concept 2020' in UK

The Nissan 'Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo' is the latest supercar in the Gran Turismo video game franchise.

While the physical version at Goodwood was just for show, gamers will be the first to drive the virtual Concept 2020 in Gran Turismo 6 from July.

A young team at Nissan Design Europe, led by Design Director Taisuke Nakamura, collaborated with engineers in Japan to create a vehicle they say reflects the potential of its virtual performance.

"[A virtual environment car] is a new styling challenge without any constraints, boundaries," said Nissan Design Europe Design Director Taisuke Nakamura. "So it was a purely design challenge to see how much we can go further to achieve an attractive design. It's like a virtual motor show to me."

Concept 2020 is also being employed in the Nissan GT Academy, a program where gamers who aspire to become real race car drivers are put through their paces, with a few graduates now racing on pro grids.
