PREVIEW – 2019 NSW Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo
Since it was re-invented by promoters Andy and Donna Minas six years ago, the NSW Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo has gone from strength to strength and this year’s expo is set to be even bigger.
Held over two big days – 25 and 26 May – the 2019 expo will feature the cool rides you’ve come to expect, as well as a few surprises, as the show has witnessed the unveiling of some very cool cars in recent years. In 2018, Wasyl Rosati unveiled his ‘Black Diamond’ 1950 Mercury custom coupe that swept the field, including winning the sought-after ‘Top Car’ trophy.
While the elite-level street machines and hot rods, like Rosati’s car and Martin Muscat’s ‘Bitchin’ ’32 Ford coupe, feature in the undercover display space, there’ll be more cars and bikes on show outside in the show n shine car park sponsored by Cruzin magazine.
Also Featuring
The expo isn’t just hot rods, street machines, motorcycles, custom pushbikes, BMX bikes and pedal cars. ‘Nostalgia Lane’ is back again and Fraser Motorcycles Harley-Davidson & Ducati will be opening registrations for ‘Australia’s Biggest Bike Build Off’, with entries to be judged at next year’s expo, while a new addition this year is the ‘Ink & Iron Sydney’ tattoo show.
If you’re looking for something a bit different, Nostalgia Lane always delivers, with lowriders, bombs and kustom kulture. Classic drag cars feature, too, so if the quarter mile is your thing, make sure you check out this part of the show.
Making its debut at this year’s expo, ‘Ink & Iron Sydney’ will showcase more than 30 talented tattoo artists from Australia, NZ and across Asia, with live tattooing on site, a digital drawing workshop and tattoo competition with 20 categories, including the very event-appropriate ‘Best Automotive’ tattoo!
Win a Car!
There’s also ‘Morringe Crush’ - a classic Morris Minor tourer that’s being reinvented by the team at Ratpac Inc.
Due to be completed on-site at the expo, there will be the chance to win this cool custom, too! Morringe Crush is being raffled off, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Ovarian Cancer Australia, so make sure you get yourself a ticket or two in the draw.
And Don’t Forget. . .
Want more reasons to get yourself to this year’s expo? How about the ever-popular Pinstripe ‘Panel Jam’, airbrush demonstrations, live bands from 4:00PM to 9:00PM on Saturday (including Evolution Rocks and the Drey Rollan Band), trade stands and trade demonstrations.
There’s cool merch and custom gear to buy, food and drinks on site, plus plenty of kids’ entertainment and activities, so it’s all very family friendly, with extended hours on Saturday – to 9:00PM – this year and free parking, too!
If you haven’t made the trip to the NSW Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo yet, make 2019 the year that you go. You won’t regret it!
