Riceburner heaven in Queensland this September 25th
Held in conjunction with the Classic Japanese Show & Shine Inc. (CJSS), the Japanese Nationals steps up a gear in 2011 with the show & shine display complemented by on-track action. Throughout the day, Japanese car owners can take part in Lakeside cruise sessions, 1/8 mile drags, a regularity trial, sprints and, for the very fastest of the crop, a one-lap, $1000 Time Attack shootout.
Paul Ruzic, whose company timeattack.com.au has stumped up the $1000 prize money for the lap dash shootout says he is proud to promote the quest for the perfect lap.
"Ruzic Engineering and timeattack.com.au are very proud to get behind the Japanese Nationals' sprint shootout," Mr Ruzic enthused. "It's all about that one perfect lap. We've taken the art of race qualifying and turned it into a sport, and what better encouragement than to finish the day with a pocketful of prize money."
With the experiences of last year's inaugural event to build upon, organisers expect the 2011 Japanese Nationals to be one of the largest Japanese car events in the nation in terms of numbers of both entrants and spectators. CJSS founder Ray Ferguson expects up to 300 cars to participate in the Classic Japanese Show & Shine and a further 100 cars to compete on the track.
"The move to Lakeside Park last year gave a significant boost to our event," said Mr Ferguson. "Many older blokes like myself have fantastic memories of this place and, along with a lot of the younger guys, we love to get out on the track, whether it's in the timed competition or just for a leisurely cruise lap."
The event is open to Japanese cars - and Japanese car fans - of all ages, with organisers expecting a vast array of machines on the day. Set on the banks of Lake Kurwongbah, the 2011 Japanese Nationals promises a feast of Japanese automotive history and a thrilling day of on-track action.
