Seton Supercars unite ahead of Ipswich Super 440

Prior to his second wildcard start in this year’s Repco Supercars Championship, Aaron Seton was part of a special event that brought his current Chevrolet Camaro together with the historic EF Falcon driven by his father, Glenn, in the 1990s.

Aaron is the third generation of the Seton motorsport family that includes 1965 Bathurst 500 winner, Barry ‘Bo’ Seton, who passed away in April.

Ahead of Aaron’s first wildcard start at the Townsville 500 in July, Matt Stone Racing (MSR) unveiled a livery for his Camaro ZL1 inspired by Glenn’s Peter Jackson Racing Falcon. The bold blue with yellow and red lower striping were the signature colours for Glenn’s early years in the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC) that included time in Nissan Skylines and Ford Sierras. When the Group3A era of the ATCC (that would become V8 Supercars) started in 1993, Glenn carried the same livery to the team’s Ford Falcons, winning the championship that year and again in 1997.

Aaron’s race number for the wildcards, #30, was another nod to his father, who ran #30 for most of his career.

While the tribute livery had already been seen at the Townsville 500, a new addition to Aaron’s Superior Cranes MSR Camaro for the Ipswich Super 440 was signage for ‘The Boat Works’. Owned by former ATCC regular, Tony Longhurst, The Boat Works is based on the Gold Coast and features ‘Garage 25’; a car display and café. The Glenn Seton EF Falcon in Peter Jackson livery that was at Garage 25 for the fan event came from Longhurst’s collection.

“It’s pretty cool to be at The Boat Works to display both dad’s Supercar and the car I’ll be running at Queensland Raceway,” Aaron said. “It resembles dad’s history in racing, and it’s very special to put it on display at Garage 25 at The Boat Works.”

At the Ipswich Super 440, Aaron was the best of the three wildcards entered for the round, finishing 26th, 20th and 22nd across the three races. Aaron will partner Zach Bates in the Bendix MSR Camaro for the Supercars enduros at The Bend and Bathurst.
