Shannons to auction a Sulli-VAN
Finished in brush-painted cream with contrasting black mudguards, the dainty Morris appeared as a prop in 'The Sullivans', complete with 'snake Gully Groceries' signwriting. In running condition, but unregistered, the Cowley includes interesting features such as cowl lights, a dashboard clock, running board rack, door-mounted hand horn and a spotlight mounted on the A-pillar.
200,000 of these light duty workhorses were churned out of the Morris works between 1926 and 1931, but few survive today.Shannons believe this interesting 1920s Morris van would make a great static display or an appealing mobile billboard for a creative tradesman.
The vehicle comes complete with owner's manuals and a copy of the 1983 Vintage Drivers Club newsletter showing photos of the van with "Snake Gully" livery. It will be sold at no reserve, with a guiding range of $5,000-$8,000, as part of Shannons' Melbourne Spring Classic Auction.
Shannons' Melbourne Spring Classic Auction will be held on Monday, September 12, at Shannons Melbourne auction rooms at 321 Warrigal Rd Cheltenham, starting at 7:00pm. More details on the 'sulliVAN' and other lots, which include 17 offered at no reserve, are available at shannons.com.au
