Sprint' name confirmed for XR finale
The limited-edition 'XR Sprint' series will comprise both turbocharged XR6s and supercharged XR8s, with the latter available with either an automatic or manual transmission, while the turbo six will only be offered with an auto.
Ford Australia promises more power for these special editions, but hasn't released any figures yet.
The Sprint editions will also include upgraded brakes, a unique alloy wheel design and decorative touches like unique exterior striping and interior trim. 'Sprint' badging will feature both inside and outside, with an individually-numbered build plaque on the engine.
"The Falcon XR Sprint is aligned to the understated look of our notable historic performance Falcons; they will be styled with design and dynamic influences that are distinctly different in feel, presence and execution," said Graeme Whickman, Ford President and CEO.
Release of the XR Sprint limited editions is scheduled for later in 2016 (likely to be the final XRs built), with full specs and pricing to be revealed closer to launch.
