Supercars ‘Grand Final’ a boon for Adelaide
The ‘Finals’ format introduced to the Repco Australian Supercars Championship last year continues to have its detractors, both within the paddock and outside it. However, one advocate is the South Australian government, who announced that the new form of championship decider delivered a record-breaking economic benefit to the state.
According to the SA government, last year’s Supercars ‘Grand Final’ in which Chaz Mostert was crowned champion pumped $100.7 million into the local economy. This is the first time that a Supercars round in any format has delivered more than $100 million of economic benefit to the state. Spectator numbers were estimated at 285,700 across the event’s four days.
Compared to other events, the Supercars Grand Final outperformed the LIV Golf event by almost $20 million, with only the AFL’s Gather Round providing a greater economic benefit to the state - $113.9 million – last year.
“Since we brought [Supercars] back four years ago, this great event attracts more interstate and overseas visitors to South Australia every year,” said South Australian Premier, Peter Malinauskas.
“Our major events strategy is delivering a clear return for our economy, helping us to fund other important projects in areas, including health and housing.”
“Visitors to these events are seeing what our great state has to offer and spending record amounts of money while they’re here.”
“We’re excited for another high energy event in 2026 with Guns N’ Roses headlining the Sunday concert.”
As it did in 2025, the bp Adelaide Grand Final will close out the 2026 Supercars Finals Series, with this year’s event scheduled for 26-29 November. Tickets for the Grand Final are available now, starting from $39/person for single-day general admission entry, and from $269/person for grandstand seating across the four days. VIP Hospitality packages and premium Paddock Club tickets are also available, but these were close to selling out at time of writing.
