Supercars revise 2021 calendar

When the category announced its 2021 calendar in December, Sandown was listed as a “flex option” to fill any postponements or cancellations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. That option has now been activated, with Sandown to host Round 2 of the championship on 18-21 March.

Sandown has hosted more ATCC/Supercars rounds than any other circuit, including 48 enduros. Whether this year’s Sandown round will be an enduro or a shorter sprint round had not been confirmed at time of writing, but the suburban Victorian circuit has history with both formats, hosting its last sprint round in 2010 and an enduro in 2019.

As with the rest of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship calendar, the Sandown round remains subject to ongoing developments with pandemic.

At time of writing, Supercars had not confirmed whether it would take part in the rescheduled Australian F1 Grand Prix in November.
