Surprises galore at JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane
If there’s one sure thing at JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane, it’s that you’ll see something different every time. Such was the case for the October edition of this monthly car meet at Café Elle in Geebung. This time around, there were even more cars, utes and pickups making their show debut than usual, covering a broad spectrum of makes, models, ages and body styles.

Parked front and centre at Café Elle, a C1973 Mazda RX3 wagon was rocking a 13B rotary with lots of extras and rolling on a set of Center Line Convo Pros. Classic! Speaking of classic, there was also a very neat Gen 1 Camaro, finished in satin black, with fat tyres filling the rear wheelarches.
A pair of Pontiac Firebirds also made an impression, especially the Smokey and the Bandit ’79 Trans Am. They were JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane debutants, as was a tidy Manx-style dune buggy.

Classic Holdens included a stock (or at least, stock looking) HG Kingswood and heavily modified VH Commodore, while a VK Valiant Charger with an air filter poking through the bonnet suggested it was far from stock, too. A Bay Window VW Kombi in stunning metallic burgundy paint with white trim offered something fresh. Parked alongside a stock Split Window example, it also showed the difference between the first and second generations of Volkswagen’s iconic people mover.

Some previously unseen light commercials at JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane included a 1953 Chevy pickup that was slammed on a set of big alloys and whitewalls, with plenty of patina. There was also a 1988 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler that’s been featured in JUST PARTS. Built by Superformance, this rare Jeep had an LS transplant, slammed suspension and Detroit Steel D-Town Smoothie wheels amongst its many mods. A very tidy, freshly-restored Series 1 Land Rover was also on show.

BGS Classic Cars got in on the ‘debutant’ theme, presenting a 1926 Armstrong-Siddeley 18hp Tourer with a Brisbane-built body and a lot of local history. Restored in the 1990s, but still looking fresh, this very rare car was still for sale at time of writing, with an asking price of $40,000. Check the For Sale listings on justcars.com.au or in JUST CARS magazine to see if it’s still available.

Held on the last Saturday of each month, JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane welcomes all classic, custom and collectable cars and motorcycles. The event is sponsored by Diecast Diehards, Just Pro Tools, Avant Garde Financial Brokerage P/L and BGS Classic Cars.
