Tickford announce ‘TA-500’ Mustang

On the eve of this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Tickford announced the availability of a new performance upgrade for the Mustang GT – the TA-500 Performance Pack.

Developed by Tickford and inspired by the fleet of four cars they run in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, the TA-500 Performance Pack is designed to maximise the Mustang GT’s potential.

Available on the FN model Mustang GT only (manual and auto), the TA-500 upgrade was created “with the vision to bring the very best of Tickford engineered enhancements to the Mustang”.

While the only engine modification is the addition of a Tickford-engineered cat-back exhaust system, significant changes are made elsewhere, including on the suspension, which is lowered by 25mm with the addition of Tickford springs and fully retuned - whether the donor Mustang GT is non-MagneRide or MagneRide equipped. A front strut brace and rear subframe brace are also added.

The factory wheels are swapped for Tickford’s own 20-inch alloys in a staggered pattern – 20 x 9.5 front and 20 x 11 rear – shod with Michelin Pilot 4S tyres.

The rest of the TA-500 features are cosmetic, consisting of C-stripe bodyside decals, a black Pony grille badge and deck lid panel, black mirror caps, a Tickford TA-500 engine cover, plus TA-500 badging on the boot and front guards.

Inside, the TA-500 pack adds a leather-trimmed centre console lid and steering wheel (with contrasting red stitching on the latter), TA-500 branding on the front seats, faux carbon fibre boots for the handbrake and gear shifter, a black shift knob for manuals, TA-500 floor mats and a numbered dash plaque.

Each TA-500 will be built at Tickford’s facility in Melbourne and individually numbered. A letter of authenticity will be provided with each unit, to give customers “added confidence in vehicle resale value”.

The TA-500 Performance Pack is offered at what Tickford calls an accessible base price of $16,250.

Upgrade Options

If what’s in the TA-500 Performance Pack isn’t enough, Tickford are also offering additional build options, so the more creative enthusiast can spec a Tickford-enhanced Mustang to their exact choosing.

These “Stage 2” options include a cold air intake, adjustable suspension, Wilwood brake package and a supercharger in two capacities. The more potent of the two carries a ‘TA-750’ tag, which Tickford will reveal more details on at a later date.

The TA-500 joins a Tickford Mustang product range that includes the Bathurst ’77,  the ‘Allan Moffat’ Trans Am special edition, performance packs for the MY18/19 Bullitt and older (2015-17) Mustangs, plus a range of other bolt-on components.
