Tickford launches TSV-535R Mustang
Tickford used this year’s Bathurst 1000 to launch their latest enhancement package for the Ford Mustang – the TSV-535R.
To an MY18/19 Mustang GT coupe donor vehicle (with either manual or auto transmission), the TSV-535R specification covers ECU calibration, fully-adjustable H&R coilover suspension, front and rear chassis bracing, seven-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, Michelin performance tyres and a carbon fibre aero body kit as the more substantial changes.
Other mods and additions include XC Cobra-style ‘American Racing’ body stripes (for Oxford White Mustangs only), Steeda hydraulic bonnet struts, a carbon fibre and leather-trimmed steering wheel, a bespoke gearknob (for manuals) and an alcantara and nappa leather interior trim that’s unique to the TSV-535R and applied to the front seats, rear seats and door cards.
“The TSV-535R is inspired by several historically significant cars in the Ford line up and we are excited to present it and add to the legacy that cars like it have laid out before,” said Tickford managing director and Tickford Racing co-owner Rod Nash.
“The extensive upgrade list included with the vehicle is wildly impressive, and I commend the work our team has done. We bleed blue at Tickford - the TSV-535R gets that blood pumping.”
Hot 535 The key component to the TSV-535R is the engine upgrade. Via recalibration of the ECU and other changes, the Mustang GT’s factory maximums of 339kW and 556Nm are upgraded to 400kW and an impressive 632Nm, respectively. The horsepower equivalent – 535 – of the new 400kW maximum output gives this package its name.
This upgrade is also available separately from Tickford, under the ‘400kW Performance Pack’ banner and can be either purchased alone, or combined with Tickford wheels, Michelin tyres and some of the other elements of the TSV-535R package. Tickford back this driveline work with a 3-year/100,000km warranty.
Sports Wheels and Rubber The TSV-535R’s wheels are unique 20-inch alloys in a matte gunmetal finish and with a seven-spoke design that shows off the Mustang’s factory disc brakes and contrast-colour brake calipers, while the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres are 275/35R20 front and 295/35R20 rear.
Optional on the TSV-535R package is a Wilwood ‘big brake’ kit that consists of performance six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. On the front end, this is roughly comparable to the factory six-piston Brembo calipers, but the back end is a more substantial upgrade, as the factory set-up is only a single piston caliper.
Tickford Tribute To tie-in with the launch of the TSV-535R, Tickford Racing re-finished the Bottle-O Falcon FG X campaigned by Mark Winterbottom and Dean Canto in a one-off livery for this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
“To tie in our racing partnership with the vehicle enhancement business adds another dimension to our relationship, and we thank The Bottle-O for their willingness to join us in this endeavour,” said Nash.
Bringing back memories of Bathurst ’78 when Allan Moffat and Colin Bond fielded XC Falcons in the bold blue-stripes-over-white design, the one-off livery didn’t prove fortuitous for Winterbottom and Canto, who finished twelfth overall and several laps down on the winners.
The Tickford TSV-535R Mustang upgrade is available now, priced at $29,990 (incl. GST) for the fully-fitted kit, which is identified by an individual build-number and badge. In addition to the 3-year/100,000km driveline warranty, Tickford also offer a 1-year/20,000km warranty on other Tickford parts used in the package.
The Wilwood brake package is an additional $9,990 (incl. GST).
