Toyota releases Special Edition 86
Based on the top-grade GTS manual variant, Toyota claims they've enhanced this model's appeal by fitting larger Brembo performance brake calipers and larger ventilated brake discs for enhanced stopping power, specially-tuned Sachs performance dampers for improved dynamic stability, custom paint and interior modifications.
Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the performance package is ideally suited to the car's balanced chassis, low centre of gravity and its front-engine/rear-wheel-drive configuration.
"Whether driven on the open road or on the track, the combination of beefier brakes and uprated suspension involving two renowned performance brands is designed to further distinguish Toyota's lightweight coupe as an authentic driver's car," Cramb said.
Braking
Substantially beefier rotors are 326mm x 30mm with four-piston calipers at the front (GTS: 294mm x 24mm) and are fitted with larger 75cm2 (54cm2) pads. The rear benefits from 316mm x 20mm rotors with two-piston calipers (GTS: 290mm x 18mm) with 32 cm2 (30 cm2) pads.
Suspension
Fitment of Sachs dampers adds to the lightweight sports car's responsiveness and stability.
Exterior
All 60 units are identified by high-impact Solar Orange paint, contrasted by a metallic black finish to the rear spoiler and door-mirror housings. Completing the exclusive exterior look is a set of 10-spoke 17-inch anthracite-coloured alloy wheels.
