Volkswagen launches student design competition
Volkswagen's previous Design Contest, to create an electric VW, was limited to China, Russia and India, but this competition has been opened to young designers everywhere.
The challenge for the first worldwide Volkswagen Design Contest is to cool video game car for Volkswagen. The competition is open to students from the fields of interior and exterior design, interface design, graphic design and/or colour and trim design.
In submitting entries, there are some Ts & Cs, including that the creation for a video game must have the typical character of a Volkswagen and should at least be somewhat recognisable as a VW.
Students can submit their ideas on three charts, either in individual work or as a team.
A jury of experts from Volkswagen Design, led by Klaus Bischoff (Head of Volkswagen Design), will judge the submissions, with the prize being, for three winners, a six-month internship in the Volkswagen Design department in Wolfsburg, Germany.
"We are always interested in the perspective and attitude of young designers to mobility topics and this is why we decided to take a new approach to finding fresh design talents with the Design Contest," said Bischoff.
Information on the contest can be found at www.volkswagen-design-contest.com. The closing date for entries is 15 August 2014, with the winner announced on 30 September 2014.
