The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, more commonly known as the Evo, is a popular turbocharged AWD sports sedan with a rally pedigree based off the lower spec Lancer. The Evolution was manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors in Japan from 1992 up until 2016, during which 10 official generations of the Evo were produced, each designated by a Roman numeral. The Mitsubishi Evolution is a Japanese icon and a household name around the world.

The Evolution X, or the tenth generation, would unfortunately be the final iteration of the iconic range. Like previous generations, the X was based off the Lancer and featured a turbocharged 4-cylinder with an AWD system. However, unlike any Evo before, the X introduced a new powerplant. All previous generations of the Evo carried a variation of a 4G63 engine, whereas the X introduced a new 4B11T producing 226kW @ 6500rpm and 414nm of torque, as well as a new variation of the AWD system called S-AWC and even a new option of a dual-clutch SST automatic.
