Introduced in 1976, the E24 6-Series was a replacement for the E9 Coupe, now one of the most collectible BMWs ever produced. It was the first generation of BMW's new Grand Tourer. Built and based around the BMW 5 Series platform, the E24 took some styling cues from the E9, but with the addition of a B Pillar. Production ceased in 1989 for the E24, with the 6-Series not making a return until the early 2000s.
