Fiat 509 Tourer 1925
In the 1920’s the Fiat car company held the land speed record; the technology gained in this venue finally found its way into Fiat production models in 1925. The Fiat 509 encompasses some of the most advanced technology of the era. The one litre engine boasts an overhead camshaft with inclined valves and a hemispherical combustion chamber. Four wheel brakes and central ball change gearbox complete the sporting apparel.
This particular 509 is a 1925 model, the first year of production. The car underwent an extensive restoration during the 1980’s. The restoration was completed in time for the car to participate in the 1988 Australian Bicentennial Fiat National Rally at Swan Hill. The car was also selected to be one of 9 cars displayed in the Queensland Museum’s 100 years of Fiat display in 1999.
The bodywork was completely re timbered during the restoration and is in excellent condition to this day. The panel work is also in good condition and is finished in a stark yellow paint work which contrasts beautifully with the black fenders. All the bright work has been re-chromed. The interior was fully re done during the restoration and is still in new condition. Noteworthy are the car’s headlights which feature authentic lenses complete with Fiat scriptures. The car also features a full 12 volt electrical system with a battery isolator for safety purposes. The car rides on an almost new condition boomerang tread Dunlop tyres.
The car is a pleasure to drive, drives well and stops very well.
I am happy to assist with overseas buyers and can deliver and package the 509 into a container.
