Seller's Description
SN2863
1948 HEALEY ELLIOTT SALOON
THE PRETTIEST HEALEY SALOON
In its day, the Healy Elliott was promoted as the fastest four-seat saloon in the world. That claim was supported by a recorded speed of 110mph (175kph) on Belgium's Jabbeke race circuit. Only 101 Healy Elliotts were built.
The chassis was one of Donald Healey's first creations after World War II and, for its time, the suspension arrangement was quite advanced. Most cars were fitted with a tuned version of the proven Riley twin cam 2.4 litre four-cylinder engine. Also unusual for the time was the use of a wind tunnel to refine the aerodynamics of the aluminium bodywork.
This particular example was delivered new to a family in South Australia, and was totally restored by the Healey Factory some years ago. It's done little serious work since then and remains in pristine condition inside, outside and underneath.
Great looks, luxury and fine performance all combine to make this a delightful and very usable classic package.
