Seller's Description
The Austin A90 Atlantic was the first all Austin designed and manufactured model released following WWII in 1949. As the model was originally intended for U.S export, the A90 would receive lashings of luxury items such as futuristic styling, hydraulically powered windows and roof (for the drop heads), flashing indicators and HMV radio capability. The A90 had a purpose of luxury cruising rather than handling and performance, however the Jaguar XK120 was released at the same time and affected Austin global sales with many preferring the 6 cylinder Jaguar. The 2.7L 4 cylinder engine which would also go on to see use in the iconic Austin-Healey 100/4 produced 88bhp with a top speed of 146km/h. Between 1949 and 1952 just 7,981 units were produced. This vehicle was first sold new in Perth, Western Australia in 1949. It is a genuine 2 owner car where it sat as part of the Bodallin Motor Museum with the previous owner for the past 30 years until it was acquired by GCCM in 2015. During its previous ownership this A90 Atlantic DHC received a full ground up restoration in the 1990s to concourse standard. This included a back to bare metal respray, full engine rebuild and all new interior trim. It comes with a large history file detailing its ownership and previous works completed. It is estimated that there are less than 20 functional Drop Head Coupes surviving in Australia. *Test Drive and Viewing by Appointment Only
