Just arrived - This 1960 Austin Healey MkI Sprite is a little different from the rest. Colloquially known as the bug-eye/frog-eye Sprite, the MkI Sprite is an iconic classic. Since its launch, the MkI Sprite has made itself well-known on the track and continues to be found on the raceway to this day. This particular Sprite has been involved in motorsport since new, winning the 1976 Sprite Car Club of Australia Club Championship and racing in several other hill climb and sprint events. In its later years, the Sprite has enjoyed a quieter life attending coffee and cars events and show and shines. The Sprite underwent a restoration with the previous owner in approximately 2017. Driven by a 1310cc 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual gearbox, this motor was completely refreshed with over $16,000 spent. It received plenty of new parts to get it track-ready, including a Ken Elder 7-port aluminium cross-flow Siamese-port cylinder head, custom push rods and roller rockers, twin Webbers, an electronic management system and ignition and race-spec coated extractors. The Sprite has also been fitted with a close-ratio gearbox, limited-slip differential, AVO suspension, sway bars, aluminium radiator, thermo fan, and period Cobra race seats with Velo harness seat belts. Resprayed in British Racing Green, the Sprite sits on a set of Minilite wheels. It is in very tidy condition for its age, both inside and out. It comes with plenty of accessories, including a roll bar for future track events. The Sprite is registered on the road here in SA and is also eligible for historic registration. This is a great little build that is ready for track or road adventures.
