Seller's Description
This very rare 1964 MK 1 Cortina GT is one of 49 that was shipped from the UK as completed running cars and on arrival in Australia , were driven from the ship straight to the Broadmeadows factory where the were fitted with " made In Australia " VIN plates. The other 51 cars were 4 door GT,s. These 100 cars were imported as complete running cars to allow the GT500,s to compete at Bathurst. I have owned this car since 1995 and shortly after had a full strip down and body Rotisserie rebuild including new panels from the UK and a full respray carried out by Supergloss , which still holds well today some 25 years later apart from a few bruises during storage. Requiring re assembly and interior refresh this amazingly original car has had a Full Engine and Gearbox rebuild , all suspension front and rear rebuilt , Brakes and steering overhauled. The original twin choke 28/36 Weber and air filter is missing and has been replaced by a pair of twin 40 DCOE Carburetors and a Warnford Inlet Manifold. The Engine rebuild included a rebore and tuning work by Heinz Motors. All chrome side trim and Door / Window trim is present as is a new headling and all its original green interior. This Australian classic has now been reduced to sell to a smart investor although not as valuable as a GT500 or in fact a Lotus model , this car is the rarest of the bunch. A true piece of Ford Australia racing history. Interested parties can view in Kelmscott WA 6111. Previous Perth registration number is UMT 707.
