1966 Ford Fairlane – desirable ‘S’ code, dealer ordered silver GTA. VIN 6K40S226166 Genuine 50,000 miles from new – rare, rust free, dry state (USA) owned, non-smoker, unmolested car in excellent condition. Personal import (around 5 years ago) – all import paperwork can be provided. Mechanically, the car received further restoration (all suspension, brakes etc) when it arrived in Australia to achieve RWC (original ball joints were replaced for RWC!). Factory and all restored 390, C6 Auto, 9” diff, disc brake front end, power steering, (first year of Fairlane offering) factory integrated air conditioning (in perfect working order) and twin exhaust. Body is arrow straight and panels/doors line up as new. The interior is in excellent condition (all interior door panels are new). The car has been used for family weekend drives and has been mechanically maintained or improved for safety and comfort. Engine is rebuilt (mild cam) and delivers! Transmission was rebuilt in the USA and has been regularly serviced – it is crisp and smooth. The car is quick, responsive and handles so much better than a base Fairlane because of the heavy duty GTA suspension componentry. Briefly, the car is every bit as clean, good and straight as the photos suggest – the paint is excellent – even the fastidious (such as myself) would be delighted to show the car. All chrome, and stainless trim is excellent – the previous (USA) owner painstakingly had all of the diecast instrument cluster restored and is as new – no cracks in original vinyl top of dash – it is AS NEW. He faithfully restored the original grille as well, in correct colours not seen on any other GTA in Australia - nothing missing or damaged on car. Mechanically, the car is as new (or better) – recent works include new/upgraded MSD electronic ignition and new Edelbrock Carb (all still under warranty) – you could drive the car across the country and back. The Fairlane is currently on full VIC registration but I wish to keep the black and white plates – priced to sell with full reg (new issued plates) and RWC or can sell unregistered/as is if moving interstate. If you love the Australian ZA-ZD Fairlane but want to step things up a notch and go ‘muscle’ you would be mad to not consider this iconic ’60’s Ford. Super desirable and yet not another Mustang, or not the size of a full-sized Ford Galaxie! Why buy from the USA with today’s currency? Looking at a cool, classic, muscle car by FORD, this is it!
