Bought brand new from Harrison's Garage in Shepparton (Victoria) on 6 February 1970 by a Rushworth (Victoria) family, this 1969 Chrysler Valiant VF Regal Hardtop went on to be owned by them for 50 years. Factory-finished in the rare colour of Crystal Turquoise with a Parchment vinyl roof and matching interior, it was used as a daily driver and also was used for teaching the children how to drive. Work under the original owner’s included general maintenance and repairs, a refresh of the paintwork. In February 2020 exactly 50 years to the month since it was bought new the time came for this tightly held example to change hands for the very first time, after which it was given a light refurbishment which included a new vinyl roof and a set of hubcapped steel wheels. Subsequently, it was on sold to its third owner, this time based in Sydney, who did less than 500 miles in it during four years of ownership, which is explained by his existing collection of 18 cars! The vendor then purchased it in August 2024 and has since undertaken a thorough and much needed mechanical rejuvenation of the VF, while maintaining its originality.
With the aim of getting it back on the road and dependable, work has included a new windscreen, rebuilt radiator, a new starter motor, water pump and rebuilt wiper motor, aftermarket headers and new exhaust, and the transmission selector link was repaired. It has also been extensively rewired and many electrical components repaired, while new halogen headlights were fitted, along with new taillight and side light lenses with seals and LED globes, a new boot seal, new washer bottle and side mirrors, and a new original-style radio returned to the dashboard, with a new period aerial fitted. Badges and other minor trim pieces were renewed a new colour-matched boo floor carpet made, DRLs added, and remote central locking installed.
With its stunning Crystal Turquoise colour, this now-rare Regal Hardtop became a 'cover car' and lead feature in the November 2025 edition of Unique Cars magazine. All round this example presents in very good and largely original condition throughout.
Accompanying the car is an extensive history folder which includes lots of original paperwork and images from its life with its owners of 50 years, and another folder containing receipts for all the recent work done. Its original Owner's manual and service book are also present, along with the replacement engine guarantee, a reproduction VF Hardtop model brochure, and a copy of the Unique Cars magazine in which it featured. There's also a tub of original parts (since replaced on the car).
With just three genuine owners and well documented maintenance both recent and historically this is a very original example of a highly sought after model with extensive provenance.
