This is my most regretful sale of all my cars (and I have had alot of super nice unique ones!). 1971 IS THE UNDENIABLE BEST YEAR OF THE EPIC THIRD GENERATION CHARGERS and is the LAST YEAR OF THE LEGENDARY R/T CHARGERS. It was also the: *LAST YEAR OF HIGH COMPRESSION ENGINES *ONLY 2659 R/T TOTAL MADE IN 1971, and 332 4 SPD MANUALS. *HENCE THIS CAR IS AN EXTREMELY RARE FACTORY MANUAL, GENUINE U CODE 440 7.2lt R/T V8 MAGNUM BIG BLOCK (which recorded quicker times than the hemi!) and with HIDEAWAY HEADLIGHTS (an option in 1971). *Last year of High Impact colors *71 was campaigned in NASCAR and was the favoured body style of Richard Petty who had over 35 wins and considered this body style much better balanced. With 68-70 RT chargers now at prices well beyond most collectors reach, the 71-74 chargers values have shot up and are becoming much more difficult to source as they are now so desirable. The 1971 is by far the most desirable. The engine was recently rebuilt very few miles ago and performance upgraded from top to bottom to set it up for serious racing, but was never really raced. It has now had all the work done to adapt it to be a superb driving street car (stall converter, new exhaust, all new wheels/tyres, new diff, new carby set up, vacuum pump for brakes, fully fitted original interior etc etc) but retaining the almighty horsepower and torque it was set up with The original 440 engine had an impressive 370 HP but this replacement high compression 440 puts that to shame. PAINT– THIS IS A REAL HEADTURNER AND IS A STUNNING DRIVER/CLUB CAR BUT IT IS NOT A SHOW CAR. Overall the paint looks fantastic, is good quality and great condition and shines up for a really stunning impression as a driver car but close up it has typical odd small chips, touchups of a driving car. Hence it is not a show car, but the paint overall gives a beautiful impression as a club car/driver car. This car is without doubt a heck of a headturner!! INTERIOR– STUNNING BLACK LUXURY IN FANTASTIC CONDITION *BRAND NEW CARPET, HEADLINER, PARCEL SHELF, SAIL PANELS etc *EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION OF REST OF ENTIRE INTERIOR *SUPERB LEATHER LUXURY DETAILED SEATS, rear seats are near immaculate condition and front seats are very good repaired original condition with some wear /fine cracks etc but still look great and are very comfortable. *Classic original detailed interior give this a superb look. Overall it has very few signs wear and only one main repaired crack on dash and neat repairs of leather seats that finished neatly. Neat fill over am radio slot. No heater, handbrake, washer wipers or horn. All windows, doors and locks work After market gauges tacho, volts, oil pressure, temp all working. Speedo and all original dash gauges also appear to be working except tacho (aftermarket tacho is connected and working) Brand new Aust standard front seatbelts. *GREAT SIZE BOOT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Boot is extremely clean and tidy. CALIFORNIA/ARIZONA CAR– we found and researched the history of this car in the USA ourselves (its now a big part of our business to find and import exceptional muscle car classics for clients). We were looking for one for us and had to have this incredible piece of muscle car history. We found it in California and imported the car for ourselves to keep as we know how hard they are to find. Only because our business is expanding have we decided we will have to part with it.
