Seller's Description
This car is offered for sale with a car trailer that was specifically purchased to transport it around. It comes with a lot of spare parts as pictured. The owner is a retired gentleman with frailness that limits his ability to drive or upkeep the vehicle any longer. He regretfully has asked me to sell the car along with all the parts and trailer. He lives on a dirt road and would trailer the car around 7 Kms to where the bitumen started, before he would drive it anywhere. He is a very fastidious owner and will miss the car when it sells. The car can be sold without the trailer for a slightly lesser price. Over the past 41 years of ownership, he has spent whatever the car required to keep it in top condition. His brother in law’s family owned the Mazda dealership, Cremorne Motors in Unley S.A. He purchased this vehicle from them in 1983. The brother-in-law worked as a mechanic there and the car was always serviced and maintained to a high standard. It was chocolate brown in colour and he changed it to Ford Mustang triple yellow acrylic over a 2-year restoration period. Air conditioning wasn’t available on Australian imports, but this car was fitted with an aftermarket air con, after he bought it. He fitted a series 1 Rx7, 5 speed manual gearbox and a new clutch. The brakes, steering, and radiator were reconditioned in the same period. 5 Globe mag wheels were purchased, and new 13” tyres fitted. The extractors were ceramic coated and the car has been fitted with extensive soundproofing throughout. The chromed bullet door mirrors were added to compliment the shape of the car. He made a central bonnet prop so the bonnet would not be stressed when open. In 1994 the engine was showing signs of worn seals, so his brother-in-law partially rebuilt the engine for him. In April 2002 some 8 years later, the engine needed refreshing again. Greg Mildren of Mildren Racing, rebuilt the engine fully. At that time, he just happened to be building a single distributor 12A engine that he had ported (extend port) and was fitting ceramic seals. So, he agreed on a price, including mandrel bent extractors, change over engine, reconditioned carby, and fitting Nolathane bushes all round. Some 2 years later He fitted air bags to the rear. In 2023 front retractable seat belts were fitted. There is an owner’s manual, service manual, workshop manual, some receipts, a strip down log, and a Japanese produced book on the rotary engine. This is a two-owner car from new with only one driver for the past 41 years. The car is always garaged and covered between its outings, which are no longer possible. It is in very good condition overall, reliable, and a head turner. There are two small splits in the original headlining above the front passenger, otherwise unmarked. It is often heard before seen, with its unmistakable throaty rotary sound. The car is on club registration, which cannot be transferred. Upon the sale of the car the club reg will be cancelled and an application for regular registration will be provided. The car can only be viewed at the owner’s home on the Yorke Peninsula by appointment and deposit. Due to scammers, I will be vetting genuine buyers through a small identification process.
