Since its introduction in 1964, the 911 has been at the hearts of many enthusiasts worldwide for its great looks, exhilarating driving dynamics and classic flat 6 sound. This 911S will get you in the driver’s seat of a classic 911 for much less than is typically on the market at the moment.
Model History
1974 brought the second generation of the Porsche 911 known as the ‘G Series’ that saw major changes that included a greater displacement engine to 2.7 litres (2,687cc), new impact bumpers to conform to US regulations and the use of K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection on two of the three model line ups. Minor updates were made to other exterior parts of the car while the interior received a refresh with redesigned door panels and high-backed seats with integrated headrests.
The second generation 911’s design was saved by Porsche’s design prowess – carefully and skilfully incorporating the stringent US design requirements while not ruining the iconic 911 shape.
The 1976 911S came equipped with the 2.7 litre flat 6 cylinder with fuel injection making around 173hp mated to the 5 speed manual transmission.
The vehicle
This Sahara Beige 911S is a Californian import that has been converted to RHD. No history remains from when it was imported into Australia however ownership documents date back to the previous owner to 2010.
In the current owners care – many items have been attended to over the last 12 years including brakes, tires, alternator, suspension components replaced etc + general routine servicing.
From what can be seen, the 911 looks to have been re-painted sometime before 2010 showing some stone chips and general wear and tear but overall, very presentable condition (though lower valance could do with a repaint). Interior is in good shape with for a 911 with 200k on the odo. It retains its original carpets, while the front seats look like they have been replaced from another 911 (uncertain on this). Only real wear visible is on the top steering wheel.
The 911S drives as good as it looks with plenty of power through all 5 gears and precise steering feel in the corners.
Though currently registered – the 911s will be sold without registration or RWC due to a current oil leak onto the exhaust manifolds. In light of this – the pricing on this vehicle has already been adjusted accordingly for the work required.
This is a great opportunity to get behind the wheel of a classic 911 far bellow current 6 digit prices.
