Australian Delivered Maserati Merak SS (Supersport) 1977 There were less than 250 RHD SS's Manufactured worldwide making this a sought after by collectors worldwide. The Super Sport ( SS ) was introduced to enhance the Maserati range and the result is not only a beautiful looking classic, but also one that performs with the agility expected of such a car. The sporting SS version debuted in 1976, featuring a superleggera-like weight reduction, had more power, handled better and could reach speeds up to 250 km/hr. Its sharp lines and supercar looks are credited to its designer -Giorgetto Giugiaro from Italdesign Giugiaro. He is also responsible for the famous Maserati Bora. A beautiful overhead quadcam V6, fed by 3 weber carburetors, coupled to a tight 5 speed gearbox ensures all sences are alive whilst driving. Recorded by Maserati as Australian Delivered, factory RHD, this is a matching numbers vehicle originally purchased on 18th October 1976 by an Australian resident living in Perth, Western Australia The Owner took delivery at the Maserati Factory, Modena, Italy on 17th February 1977. The car was personally handed over by Mt Giogio Manicardi, the Maserati Sales Manager at the time. The owner drove the vehicle on Italian tourist plates throughout Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and France until 28th May 1978 (some 15 months) when it was loaded and shipped to Freemantle, Western Australia.
