1978 Ford XC Cobra Tribute Ute If FORD Australia ever went into full production with a XC COBRA Ute then this would be it. With its striking paintwork and menacing stance, it looks fast just standing still. I have owned this Cobra ute for the last 25 years, and the time has come to regrettably part with. It has had a ground up rebuild, a bare metal, 2 Pack respray using quality Spies & Hecker paints and product. The body is in fantastic solid condition with zero rust. It has factory spec genuine Bathurst gel coated bonnet scoop and front air dam (The shorter Bathurst spec version). It also has twin flip cap fuel fillers and a larger capacity fuel tank. The rear lid has been custom made to look like the factory fitted tarpaulin, it is lockable and also removable if need be. First time offered for sale The trim is in perfect condition, semi original looking with new carpet, roof lining, sun-visors, custom door cards, console and Cobra embroided seats. Extras include air conditioning, central locking, immobilizer, power windows, power steering and a quality sound system for that extra little bit of comfort. The motor is a fresh and very healthy 351 Cleveland (GT specs), rebuilt in 2016 with quality internals. Block was hot tanked, decked and line bored, 30” up hypertec flat top pistons with speed pro rings, resized con rods, Kings Cam, big end & main bearings. Custom modified oil pump, double row timing chain, HT900R lifters and a custom ground Marshal Camshaft (Hydraulic 226-232-109LC). The cylinder heads were reconditioned, crack and pressure tested, valve guides, seats cut & surface decked. A pocket port to get the gasses flowing with new valves. Crow Cams performance valve spring (7333), collets and retainers. Felpro performance gasket kit, Brand new Holley Vac 670 cfm, Custom air cleaner, ICE ignition system, MSD Blaster 2 Coil, New fuel & water pump, reconditioned alternator, starter motor and heavy duty radiator with an inline water filter. A new battery and a twin exhaust system to finish it off. It has just been run in with less than 2,000kms on the clock. The C10 automatic transmission has been rebuilt with new Raybestos (the best of the best) clutch friction and steels, new bands, new sprag clutch, custom modified front pump & valve body with a progressive shift kit, Dominator 3000rpm stall convertor and a hi flow trans cooler. Rear end is the heavy duty differential with finned drums. All brakes (front, rear & hydraulics) are as new. Reconditioned power steering box, pump and new front end. Turnkey Ready to Go This is a clean dry car with no oil leaks anywhere. Wheels are a period Globe style 15-inch alloys. All the hard work has been done, and it’s a great example of a very well looked after Cobra utility that stands out. You would be hard pressed to find another in this condition. In a nutshell, it’s a reliable turnkey cruiser which is smooth, comfortable and easy to drive, in safe roadworthy condition. This vehicle is currently on club plates, and sold as is.
