Just arrived - This 1978 Holden HZ Panelvan has been reborn into a Sandman Tribute. An Aussie icon, the Sandman cost an extra $1,700 over the basic model in its day. This package allowed for several engine options, front-end and grille styling options, and came standard with sports-style gauges, a sports steering wheel, and bucket seats. This HZ began life as an Adelaide-built base model panel van and has since undergone a restoration to transform it into the iconic Sandman. It is powered by a 308 (4L) V8 that was reconditioned in June 2024 by Lonsdale Engine Works. This included a flat top rebuild kit, new sleeves, Crow 5619 cam and lifters, and a high volume oil pump. It is attached to a 3-speed automatic transmission, as was originally available in the Sandman. Additionally, a GTS instrument cluster has been fitted, and the car repainted in a magnificent yellow.
