The MGB LE marked the end of an 18-year production run of one of Britain’s best-loved sports cars.
Built in 1980, it was a special edition designed to commemorate the model’s farewell — with unique cosmetic features and trim. Only 1000 Limited Edition cars were produced in metallic pewter or bronze, with special distinguishing livery.
The MGB Roadster LE is a fitting send-off to a legendary car. With its unique styling touches, limited production numbers, and solid classic credentials, it’s a great entry point for collectors or weekend drivers alike.

This Limited Edition (LE) model was mor the UK market between August & October 1980. This car is number 287 of only 480 LE Roadsters produced in bronze. All cars were painted in bronze metallic and feature Black alloy wheels 185 x 14 tyeres, air dam front spoiler and LE striping.
This car was sold new by Dutton Forshaw Blackpool UK. In January 1982, the car was purchased by Nick Wilcox (who later became the president of the MG Car Club Auckland. The vehicle was imported into New Zealand and first registered here in December 1983. Last owner before us owned the car since 1999.
This car was chosen by the MG car Club to represent its type at the Ellerslie Intermarque Concours Show in Auckland in 2005.

Soft top is brand new.
The 1.8L inline-four OHV motor fires up easily and settles into a smooth idle. It pulls strongly through the gears, aided by a crisp 4-speed manual transmission with functioning overdrive. Brakes are firm, while the exhaust offers a pleasant, period-correct growl.
The underside is clean and solid, with no evidence of rust or patch repairs and all suspension components appear in good order.
