To meet Group A racing rules, 500 VK Group A SS models were built, featuring a de-stroked 304ci (4.9L) V8 to allow weight savings on track. HDT built the engines with serious intent - roller rockers, a race-spec cam, L34 rods, double-row timing chain, and a modified manifold, HDT extractors and a cold-air intake - all good for 196kW at 5200rpm.
