Seller's Description
‘Grace, Pace and Space’ is what defines the Jaguar XJS range to a Tee and this XJS is a prime example of that. With a powerful yet silently smooth V12 engine under the bonnet, its turbine like power will comfortably waft you to speeds well in excess of the legal speed limit.
The XJS was the replacement for the aging E-type of the time in 1975 and was a stark contrast to its sporting predecessor. While the E-type flexed its sporting credentials, the XJS was designed to be a more comfortable long-distance touring machine. At XJS’s introduction, the press and motoring enthusiasts were shocked by its sharper styling and ‘flying buttress’ (coupe only) rear end. The revised series ‘2’ XJS nicer front/rear bumpers while the interior was once again adorned with real wood veneer. The most notable change however was the addition of the ‘HE’ (High efficiency) engine which gave a slight increase in power but reduced fuel consumption.
From 1975, Jaguar had not produced a convertible and pressure was mounting for the roof to be removed. Initially jaguar came out with a cabriolet called the XJ-SC as a stop gap measure until the factory convertible was released in 1988.
This 1989 XJS convertible presents in lovely original condition in Westminster Blue.
