THE STORY
By the early 1990s, Audi was busy cementing its reputation for building refined and innovative cars that blended German engineering with understated elegance. The Audi 100 (internally known as the C4 generation) carried forward Audi’s focus on aerodynamics, quality, and advanced technology. By 1993, the 100 was one of the brand’s flagships - and in Quattro form - it showcased the company’s hallmark all-wheel drive system that had transformed rallying a decade earlier.
The 1993 Audi 100 Quattro 2.8 featured a naturally aspirated 2.8-litre V6 engine, part of Audi’s new V6 family introduced in the early ’90s. Producing around 172 horsepower and paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, it offered smooth performance and dependable torque delivery. While not a sports car, it excelled in long-distance comfort, confident traction, and durable qualities that made it a favourite among professionals and families seeking both practicality and prestige.
Subtle but refined styling defined the car: clean lines, a low drag coefficient, and an interior that emphasized ergonomics and quality materials. Standard equipment was generous for the time, with features such as ABS, power windows, and safety innovations reflecting Audi’s premium ambitions.
By 1993, the Audi 100 Quattro 2.8 V6 had become a symbol of sensible luxury engineering. Its combination of engineering precision, resilience, and Audi’s famous Quattro system helped the model earn a lasting reputation that bridged the brand’s climb into the modern luxury market.
THE CAR
A three-owner vehicle, this 1993 Audi A100 2.8 V6 Quattro is in excellent condition and presents in Tornado Red with a black leather interior.
The original owner was in possession of the vehicle for many years, during which the car was stored under cover and saw little use.
In 2017 it was purchased by the second owner with 85,875kms on the odometer. Due to COVID and various other factors, the vehicle was driven very little and was also stored under cover during that period.
A list of work completed on the vehicle is as follows:
In August 2019 an ABS issue was rectified and a new pump was sourced. The car's performance was also extensively tested.
In April 2021, a new headliner was installed along with a new windscreen.
In March 2024, a full service and vehicle check was carried out by Ramz Car Sales and Service at Mordialloc at 87,706kms. All fluids were replaced and the car's general operation was reported as satisfactory.
This vehicle includes the original radio alongside a 10-stacker CD player in the boot. There is also a spare wheel with anodised rim, along with the original white gloves issued by Audi for changing a wheel.
All the bells and whistles expected of a 1993 luxury vehicle are present, including power windows, power steering, climate control, ABS, and a differential lock button which allows the driver to send all power to the car's rear-wheels in order to help the car take off when stuck in difficult terrain.
No modifications have been made to the car - it is completely original with 88,136 genuine kms travelled. It still has its familiar new car smell.
