Seller's Description
The 1994 MG RV8 represents one of the most intriguing chapters in MG’s long history!
Introduced in the early 1990s, it marked the return of the traditional MG sports car after more than a decade without a new model carrying the spirit of the much-loved MGB. Rather than starting with a completely clean sheet, Rover’s engineers deliberately looked backwards, creating a modern interpretation of the classic British roadster.
At its heart was the familiar Rover 3.9-litre aluminium V8, producing around 190 horsepower and giving the compact two-seater considerably more performance than the original MGB. The body retained the unmistakable proportions of its predecessor but was extensively reworked, with widened guards, revised suspension and brakes, and a far more luxurious interior finished with leather and traditional wood veneer. The result was less an outright sports car than a fast, refined and distinctly British grand-touring roadster.
Production was deliberately limited, with just 1,983 examples built between 1992 and 1995. The overwhelming majority were exported to Japan, making cars supplied to other markets comparatively uncommon. Today, the RV8 occupies a fascinating position in MG history: a bridge between the classic MGB era and the modern MG F that followed, combining traditional craftsmanship, unmistakable MG character and the effortless performance of a V8.
