This 1995 model Citroen XM is in pristine condition. Sold new in Sydney for $82,000, this car has only travelled 84,200km's (genuine and logbook'ed) and has been meticulously maintained. The interior is suede which is much nicer than the leather on some models. The car has never been smoked in and it still smells like a new car inside.
The auto climate air conditioning works perfectly with outlets to both front and rear, although it hasn't been regassed since 2003 so could do with regassing. The dash and door trims and all other interior fitments are perfect and unmarked, consistent with a car of such low mileage that has been garaged all its life.
The car has all the standard features such as ABS, driver airbag etc. The computer shows average speed, fuel consumption, external temperature etc. Fuel consumption for me averages about 9.5l/100k, although it's lower on long trips.
This is the smoothest ride of any car I have ever owned – I have owned many French, German and British cars over the years, but none of them have come close to the comfort of the XM with its hydractive suspension. Perhaps that’s why Jay Leno has an XM parked in his garage alongside his Lamborghinis, Ferraris and many other rare and desirable cars.
I would say that this is most likely the best XM in Australia and would win its class in any concourse competition. It comes with the original owner's manual and logbook with service stamps - it was last serviced in March this year at 76,000km's. The XM will provide the new owner with many years of French luxury driving pleasure. It is completely original in every respect and includes the additional removable 13th window to the back hatch.
This would make the perfect family car for long trips, if you're a Falcon or Commodore person, you'll never look back after riding in the XM. Parts for this model are all easily obtainable and servicing is not expensive.
It is currently on Queensland registration until June 2010, but the car is currently in Melbourne and is available for inspection at Carlton North.
