This HSV Monaro ‘VXR500’ is a solid example of a rare and potent supercharged performance car. Developed as the final farewell to the Monaro VXR (based on the VZ HSV GTO), 18 examples of the VXR500 are believed to have been delivered by Vauxhall dealer Greens of Rainham/Holborough in the UK, in collaboration with tuning specialist Wortec and fully sanctioned by Vauxhall Motors. The centrepiece is a Harrop supercharger, which increased the car’s power output to a reliable and conservative 500hp. Every time I drive my Monaro it’s an event. The pops and crackles from the exhaust and engaging short shifting manual gearbox with mountains of power is intoxicating! I will miss the driving experience but after nearly 2.5 years of ownership (I’m the third owner) and bringing it home, it’s time for a new owner to experience. This VXR500 is finished in sting red and believed to be one of 3 or 4 delivered in red.
