The VB was the first Commodore, a new smaller family car taking over from the previous Kingswood range. Introduced after the 1973 Oil Crisis, the VB was a more efficient car and was heavily based off the Opel Rekord from the UK. The VB took that design but with a larger front to accommodate the larger six and eight cylinder engines and a strengthened body for the harsh Aussie conditions.
This example has sat on a property since in west NSW for some time and was fitted with the factory 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. The engine does turn over by hand, but does not start and therefore has not been tested further. The VB appears complete overall, with the interior complete but weathered as well, with visible rust in the lower areas and around the back windscreen which will require work.
