43rd Historic Winton 2019
Changes in the Supercars calendar for 2019 have also brought a change to this year’s Historic Winton schedule.
Previously, the all-historic event at the country Victorian circuit was held after the Supercar round (usually the last weekend in May), but with the Supercars round now occupying that slot, this year’s 43rd Historic Winton will be held beforehand, on the weekend of 18 – 19 May.
Conducted by the Austin 7 Club with the assistance of the HMRAV, Historic Winton is one of the largest all-historic events in Australia, with 400 historic racing cars and motorbikes from the 1920s to the 1980s battling it out. Several competition classes will be in action, with most classes running multiple races across the weekend
Show and Trade
Beyond the racing, Historic Winton also features big heritage displays of veteran and vintage vehicles across both days, as well as a Sunday trader market.
For 2019, some of the display themes include anniversary celebrations for the Morgan 3-Wheeler and Bugatti (110 years), Bentley, Citroen and Armstrong Siddeley (100 years), and Ford Anglia (80 years), to name a few, but with 2019 marking the 60th Anniversary of the Mini, Triumph Herald, Jaguar Mk 2 and Austin-Healey 3000, expect these popular models to be out in force, too.
Unique displays devoted to ‘Young Blokes and Old Bangers’ and ‘The South Aussie Crew’s Aussie Specials’ will also feature this year, along with postie bike and vintage scooter displays, vintage speedway cars and bikes, micro cars and more.
More than 2,000 display cars are expected across the weekend, with organisers even providing a shuttle bus so spectators can see everything on show.
The trader market will feature various stallholders, with plenty of food and drinks available, too.
