BMW pays Homage
One of the star cars brought in especially for the Melbourne show was the BMW M1 Homage. It was the centrepiece of the BMW stand. The M1 Homage was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 road and race car program. It is a design study in the tradition of BMW Turbo - precursor of the original M1 mid-engined production supercar , which celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year.
The liquid orange paintwork developed exclusively for the Homage evokes a classic BMW M1 colour, yet is powerful with its iridescent brilliance. The M1 Homage lifts many of the styling cues for the original M1 such as the air vents in the bonnet, louvres on the rear section and the black cut line that divides the roofline from the rear section of the body. Another feature carried over from the original M1 is the twin outboard BMW roundels, positioned at the extremity of each rear wing.
