Calling JDM cars for JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane

If you thought JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane was only about classic Aussie and American iron, street machines and late-model exotics, these monthly car meets are broader than you might think.

These events welcome all cars, but we’d love to see more Japanese cars take part.

The June edition of JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane saw a couple of kei trucks and a very rare Autozam AZ-1 turn up, along with some Japanese sports cars. As good as that was, we know there’s more Japanese iron out there, covering a broad range of makes, models and years.

The JDM community in Queensland is strong, so seeing more vehicles that were either released here officially or have been brought in as grey imports is something we’re looking to add to future events.

JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane is held on the last Saturday of the month at Café Elle in Geebung, kicking off at 7:30AM and usually running through to 9:00AM.

The invitation to seem more Japanese cars at JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane includes JDM cars that have been modified. As late-model Australian-made Fords and Holdens have risen in value, extensive mods are becoming rarer. That’s certainly not the case with Japanese cars. While the excesses of the ‘sex spec’ era have well and truly passed, there’s still a very healthy tuning scene here in Australia, supported by an aftermarket industry that spans the globe.

Some owners are still building cars for show, but the majority of modified JDM cars in circulation these days have been built for the street, with mods to improve performance and handling.

If you’ve got a modified Japanese car, bring it along to JUST CARS & COFFEE Brisbane. Your modified ride may inspire others to start – or finish! – their custom cars. Seeing other builds and mods may provide some inspiration for your own projects, too.
