Callout for cars and memories from Ford’s ‘Lot 6’ works division
The folks behind the GTHO Register series of books on Ford Australia’s most iconic cars, like the GT and GTHO Falcon, Phase derivatives and XC Cobra, are working on a new book chronicling the factory race division. Known as ‘Lot 6,’ Ford’s Special Vehicles factory program operated out of a nondescript location close to the Broadmeadows manufacturing plant from 1969 to 1974.

To accurately and thoroughly document one of the most significant eras in Australian motorsport, the author is seeking input from owners of factory-built Ford race cars from the 69-74 period, along with those who had a connection to the Lot 6 program, for what will be a landmark historical publication.
Planned to be a comprehensive two-volume set, FORD SPECIAL VEHICLES – LOT 6 “WORKS” RACING DIVISION: 1969–1974 will feature stories of Ford Australia’s race division, along with all the cars known to have come from it. Past and present owners of these cars are invited to share their stories and have their vehicles formally recorded in what will be a definitive, Ford-licensed work.

The invitation for memories and stories extends to former Ford employees and those involved in motor racing who have yet to document their experiences.
Of particular interest to the author are vehicles with a known connection to Lot 6, whether race or road cars, supported by period photography and verified ownership history. Special consideration is being given to significant cars, including Bathurst winners and vehicles associated with the factory team.

Spanning more than three decades of dedicated research, the publication of FORD SPECIAL VEHICLES – LOT 6 “WORKS” RACING DIVISION: 1969–1974 aims to ensure that important stories from this era are not lost to time. The project represents a rare opportunity for individuals to have their name, their car and its provenance accurately preserved for future generations.
Those wishing to have their car and its story included are encouraged to make direct contact with the author via the details below. Nominations of suitable vehicles or owners are also welcomed.
