DREAM CAR INTERSTATE?
More time on your hands? If so, browsing for your next project or club/show special may be high on your agenda. Let’s come out of the hibernation in style!
If you find your new baby is interstate, it is vital to know that travelling around the country has become nearly impossible, as all Australian states except New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT, have closed their borders.
Confusion reigns about these closures as we take extraordinary measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus. To complicate matters even further, the rules and penalties for failure to comply are different in each jurisdiction.
For failing to comply with the public health act, Queensland are dishing out hefty fines up to $13,345, while other closed states are offering a similar penalty.
Exceptions have been made for emergency workers & vehicles, people travelling across the border for work, freight, court orders including family court, anyone travelling for medical treatment or compassionate reasons.
Guess what’s not included on that list? Picking up or delivering a car. Although it may seem essential to us, there is no excuse.
(Pleading to an officer that they be ‘compassionate’ as you want to win first place at the car show does not count!)
The only way you can get to your baby is to go through a licenced transport & logistics business whom have the legal permits to do so.
For these companies, it’s business as usual. Transporting goods across state lines is what they do for a living.
One of these logistics experts is Lucie Wright, of Cameron’s Specialised Transport, whom urged buyers and sellers to utilise transportation companies during this period.
“Don’t risk the massive fines. Give us a ring if you have any questions. Let’s all stay safe and get through this together – Lucie Wright, Cameron’s Specialised Transport
As part of a family-owned business with over 20 years experience in transporting fragile freight, Lucie and her team know what they’re doing.
They will do the hard work for you, arranging pick-up and delivery to your door, with trucks designed to safely and securely transport a variety of items, all fully insured for your piece of mind.
Where in Australia does Cameron's Specialised Transport run during this period?
Lucie: We move freight throughout Australia, however our predominant run is between Melbourne and Brisbane. We have two trucks that run this East Coast route every week to our depots.
As a family-owned business, our livelihood depends on deliveries, so if you have a car, bike, truck or boat that you want picked up or delivered, rest assured, we’ll make it happen!
What notice is required to transport freight and what can you arrange?
Lucie: Ideally, one week’s notice would be lovely, although we understand you want ASAP! If you have an urgent job with short notice, our Australian network can usually get it done for you, again, just give us a ring!
Every obligation free quote that we provide is all inclusive of the cost of transport, GST and the choice of delivery that you choose, whether depot to depot, or contactless door to door service.

If you can't go interstate and see the car you want for yourself, what can you do?
Sometimes, you just need a ‘car guy’ to be there at the point of purchase. Someone with the experience to take a closer look at a classic car and accurately describe its condition, without the need for the buyer to leave home.
For more than 20 years, VIP Automotive Solutions have been doing just that, providing peace of mind to buyers of classic, unique and modern cars all over Australia.
Our second expert is Ross Vasilakis of VIP Automotive Solutions, whom has established a trusted team of more than 125+ experienced inspection officers all over Australia, all of whom take pride in providing you with a detailed report on a classic car’s condition, taking the stress and headaches out of buying a car from interstate during lockdown.
What does the pre-purchase inspection cover?
Ross: Our onsite visual inspection covers all aspects of the car including paint and panel condition, structural rust and damage, the complete engine and drivetrain, and a full interior assessment. Also included in the inspection is a road test, a full set of photos, and you get to directly speak with the inspection officer one on one. The inspection is conducted onsite at the Seller's premises, without prejudice or judgement.
How long does it take for my pre-purchase inspection to be done?
Ross: Each inspection takes approximately 120 minutes to complete. The report and photos
are then emailed, faxed, or posted immediately after completion. We aim to complete the inspection within 48 hours of your booking, however if the seller is not available until a later date we will notify you. Who does the pre-purchase inspection? Ross: Our inspection officers are trained professionals who perform each inspection passionately, as if looking at the car for themselves. Backgrounds vary from qualified motor mechanics, panel beaters, spray painters, concourse show judges, and restoration experts. Each inspection officer has more than 15 years’ experience in the automotive industry. We pride ourselves as specialists in Classic, Unique and Modern cars.
What’s the ‘VIP’ touch give me as a buyer?
A VIP pre-purchase inspection will tell you everything you need to know, and includes a detailed 11 page condition report, lots of photos, a roadtest and you get to speak with the inspection officer one on one.
We can also take care of the secure handover payment for the car on your behalf, and safely transport your dream car directly to your driveway.
Don’t make the mistake of buying a car from interstate sight unseen, buy it with confidence and the peace of mind you want – get a VIP inspection.”
