Jaguar XFR-S coming soon
The second model in the R-S series, joining the XKR-S, the XFR-S has been developed by Jaguar land Rover's specialist ETO division. Building on the already potent XFR, and also combining elements of the recently-released F-Type, the XFR-S is Jaguar's fastest and most powerful sports sedan ever.
Performance from the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 is increased in the XFR-S to 404kW and 680Nm, with a 4.6 second 0-100 km/h time, and an electronically-limited top speed of 300km/h. The increases have been made possible through revisions to the engine management system and optimisation of the flow of air both into and out of the engine.
Transmission is the 8-speed automatic with 'quickshift' facility originally developed for the F-Type, while suspension upgrades on the XFR-S increase lateral stiffness by 30-percent. In support of this, the Electronic Active Differential and Dynamic Stability Control have been recalibrated to suit the stiffer chassis.
Bodywork revisions improve aerodynamics, with a deeper front bumper, larger and lower air intakes, vertical vanes and a carbon fibre front splitter. Further carbon fibre additions along the sides of the body and at the rear include a rear diffuser between the quad exhaust outlets. Combined with a bootlid spoiler (in two different styles), lift is reduced by a claimed 68-percent.
The XFR-S also features unique, wider 20-inch 'Varuna' alloy wheels and Pirelli tyres, which give the sedan a more muscular stance, while increasing grip and stability.
Inside, carbon leather on the seat bolsters and arm rests are combined with a Dark Aluminium fascia (both exclusive to the R-S range), with a further unique touch of contrasting colour stitching and micro-piping, which can be matched to the exterior colour.
Local delivery of the XFR-S is expected before the end of 2013, at a MSRP of $222,545, excluding on-road costs.
