Morgan to produce ‘70th Anniversary’ Plus 4
Each unit will be finished in Platinum Metallic paint with sain dark grey wire wheels, a “motorsport inspired” front valance and exterior black pack that includes blackout treatment of the stone guard, sidescreen surrounds and A-pillars.
Inside, high-quality leather seats with heating and specially-embroidered headrests, a Ravenwood veneer dash, dark grey carpets and a stain black Moto Lita steering wheel will be standard, with each unit carrying an individually-numbered plaque. Leather trim on the steering cowl and door handles, a mohair hood cover and footwell lighting are other features.
“As the design team creating the Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition, our aim was to create a classic look, yet one that exudes the significance of what it represents,” said Jonathan Wells, Morgan Head of Design.
“A mix of premium tones, high-quality materials, and exquisite details reflect the essence of the venerable Morgan Plus 4, and provide a fitting tribute to the steel chassis that has formed its backbone since it was launched in 1950.”
The Ford GDI 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine in the Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition will receive an engine map configured by Morgan’s in-house motorsport specialists, Aero Racing, that raises power from the standard 115kW to 134kW, improving 0-100km/h sprint times to under seven seconds. An Aero Racing sports exhaust is also fitted.
The Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition also marks the end of an era for Morgan, as it will be one of the last models to use the steel, ladder-frame chassis that has been a feature of Morgan construction for the past 83 years. The next-generation ‘CX’ platform was introduced on the Plus Six in 2019 and will be applied to all future Morgan models as the old-style chassis is phased out this year.
On the 70th Anniversary Edition, the old-style chassis will be painted gold.
