After seven years away, Supercars will return to Phillip Island in 2027. The popular grand prix circuit, which is losing its long-running MotoGP and World Superbike events, has been added to next year’s Repco Supercars Championship calendar. Dates had not been released at time of writing, but the ‘Phillip Island 500’ will be held at the back-end of the 2027 season as one of the Finals rounds - possibly replacing Sandown.

The five-year deal for Phillip Island – 2027 to 2031 inclusive – will be welcomed by locals and businesses in the Bass Coast region who have relied on MotoGP and WorldSBK to bring in revenue. Phillip Island’s return is also welcomed by Supercars CEO, Barclay Nettlefold.
“As we celebrate 30 years of Supercars in 2027, it feels incredibly fitting to return to Phillip Island, a circuit that formed part of our championship in 1997 and holds a special place in the history of our sport,” Nettlefold said.
“Phillip Island is an iconic venue that has delivered some memorable moments for Supercars, and we’re incredibly excited to bring the championship back and create a new chapter in that history for our fans, teams and drivers.”

A staple on the Supercars calendar up to 2019, only five tracks have hosted more championship races than Phillip Island - Wanneroo, Symmons Plains, Sandown, Sydney Motorsport Park, Hidden Valley, Winton and Oran Park. The 4.448km track has been used for sprints and enduros, season openers and championship finales.
“Phillip Island is one of the most spectacular and recognisable circuits in Australia, and we're excited to bring the Repco Supercars Championship back to this beloved venue,” said Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld.
“We're looking forward to working closely with Supercars, the Victorian Government and local stakeholders, with the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit providing the perfect stage.”

Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, added: "This is fantastic news for Phillip Island and the Bass Coast.
"Alongside our arts and cultural festivals, water-based sporting events and incredible nature-based experiences, Supercars will further showcase everything our stunning region has to offer year-round.”
