Tokyo Motor Show. 2010
The FT-86 rear wheel drive sports car is a joint venture between Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) and the buzz is that the car could be the 'new' Toyota Celica.
It is powered by a Subaru 2.0-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine, and is expected to go on sale next year.
Of course the Lexus LFA is in a league of its own and has been compared with Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari in the supercar stakes. These were the stand out concepts, but the show paled against the September Frankfurt show. Car makers continued the trend of showing many quirky hybrid, electric and alternative fuel vehicle concepts.
Many major manufacturers chose to ignore the show with just BMW, Alpina, Caterham and Lotus representing non-Japanese brands.
