Variety outline national motoring events
Enjoy the trip of a lifetime in the Outback whilst helping kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with special needs with Variety Motoring Events. In a fully supported trip, you’ll travel off the beaten track on dirt roads and bush tracks through stunning parts of Australia most people never get to see - all whilst helping kids in need.
For over 35 years Variety’s iconic motoring events have supported regional and remote Australian towns, at the same time raising funds for kids in need. Whether you want to jump in a bash car with mates, hop on an old postie bike, or enjoy 4WD luxury, by joining a Variety motoring event you’ll be helping to inject much needed funds into areas of Australia doing it tough.
Started by Dick Smith in 1985, the original Aussie motoring event - The Variety Bash is now well known for its colourful characters and fabulous cars. The first event kicked off a series of events which now bring a colourful cavalcade of joy and laughter to isolated regional kids.
See firsthand where your fundraising goes when you stop at schools for breakfast or lunch. Donations of equipment and resources like wheelchair accessible drinking fountains or learning tools such as robotics and coding equipment are made to the schools where you will see the smiles on the kids’ faces.
Steve Perks has been on nine Variety B to B Bashes and travels in a 1985 Mercedes-Benz dressed as Bush Cricketers team. Steve says he enjoys the balance of fun and giving back when his crew are out on the road.
“I really enjoy being on dirt roads and visiting outback communities,” said Steve.
“I like what Variety does for children and the fact that I can see where some of the funds raised are being allocated which is important. I also value that when we stop in a town - we are helping the town through our spending on various goods and services.”
Variety runs events across Australia each year, read on to find a Variety Motoring Event which suits you:
