1937 buick 8/40 3 sp manual 4d sedan
Seller's Description
THE STORY
In 1937, Buick’s Series 80 models (including the 840) represented the brand’s balance of luxury, power, and refinement. Positioned just below the flagship Series 90, the 840 offered much of the elegance and prestige of Buick’s top tier at a more accessible price.
That year saw Buick adopt a new streamlined design with wider bodies, lower rooflines, and flowing fenders in step with the Art Deco era. Under the hood, the proven 248ci straight-eight produced 120 horsepower, delivering smooth and effortless performance. Hydraulic brakes and improved suspension made the car as confident on the road as it was stylish at rest.
Favoured by professionals and business leaders, the 840 projected success without extravagance. Today, it endures as a symbol of Buick’s pre-war craftsmanship, when American luxury cars combined engineering innovation with timeless style.
THE CAR
Finished in stately Blue acrylic paint with a contrasting grey cloth trim, this beautiful right-hand drive 1937 Buick 840 was manufactured in Australia.
Under the hood, a strong 248ci overhead valve straight-eight engine coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission puts power to the wheels, which are sitting on steel rims with elegant 'Buick' stamped hubcaps.
On the inside, the original Art Deco dash, door handles and window-winders are all intact, as is the banjo steering wheel and radio. The carpets, door cards and the rest of the interior are all in excellent condition - as is the chrome and stainless steel.
Rear suicide doors open up to all the luxury of 1937 - including the sofa-like rear seat with armrests.
The current owner has had the car for 3 years, and prior to this it was a wedding car and therefore subject to strict annual inspections.
A gorgeous collector's item steeped in history.
