Pierre Gasly extends contract with Alpine F1
BWT Alpine Formula One Team has locked in their lead driver for the long term, with Pierre Gasly signing a new contract with the French team. Gasly’s existing contract had him tied to Alpine to 2026 inclusive, but the extension will see the 29-year-old Frenchman continue with the squad based at Enstone in the UK until the end of the 2028 FIA Formula 1 season.

A Eurocup Formula Renault champion in 2013 and GP2 Series champion in 2016, Gasly served as a reserve/test driver for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015-2017. He made his race debut with Toro Rosso in 2017, as a late-season replacement for Daniil Kyvat.
Between 2018 and 2022, Gasly alternated between Red Bull and Toro Rosso, which was rebranded as Scuderia Alpha Tauri in 2020. In that year, Gasly scored his first (and so far only) race win, at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

In 2023, Gasly joined the BWT Alpine F1 Team, replacing Fernando Alonso who switched to Aston Martin. Achieving a podium in his first year with Alpine (third at the Dutch Grand Prix), Gasly repeated the result at Singapore in 2024, finishing tenth in the Drivers’ World Championship.
For the 2025 F1 season, Gasly’s best finish at time of writing has been sixth at the British Grand Prix. Throughout his career, Gasly’s best result at the Australian Grand Prix has been ninth, in 2022.

“I’m thrilled to commit my long term future to Alpine,” Gasly said in a statement issued during the Italian Grand Prix weekend. “As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud.
Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future. Flavio’s [Briatore] support and belief in me, Francois’s [Provost] commitment to the Formula One project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision.
“I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and world championships. We’re all in this together and I look forward to continuing this special story.”
